Alebrijes & Nahuales: Fantastic Animals from Mexico Closing Exhibition

Join us at One Main Street in Salinas City Center for an unforgettable evening celebrating local art, culture, and community! Bring your friends and family to the Alebrijes & Nahuales: Fantastic Animals from Mexico Closing Exhibition Ceremony during First Friday Salinas for live music, gallery exhibits, hands-on activities for kids, and vibrant cultural performances.  

4:00 PM – 6:00 PM | Community & Artist Experience (Indoors)

Explore artist organization tables in the Rotunda. Visit Gallery I for the Small Alebrijes exhibition curated by JC Gonzalez of Urban Arts Collective, and head to Gallery II for Artists Ink’s Student Alebrijes Exhibit. Kids can enjoy free activities hosted by the Hartnell College Foundation in the Vista Room as part of First Friday Salinas.  

4:00 PM – 5:00 PM | Salinas High School Jazz Band  (Indoors)

Enjoy live jazz music performed in the Rotunda as you explore the galleries.  

5:00 PM – 5:15 PM | Artists Ink Student & Family Programming  (Indoors)

Located in Gallery II, featuring a display of 100+ student Alebrijes created by Gavilan View Middle School students, along with student recognition.  

5:15 PM – 6:00 PM | Final Round of Brush War with Artists Ink  (Indoors)

Catch a live Brush War competition and artist showcase in Gallery II.  

5:00 PM – 6:00 PM | Guelaguetza Salinas Outdoor Performance (Outdoors)

Experience a vibrant, traditional cultural showcase from Guelaguetza Salinas outdoors at One Main Street.  

6:00 PM – 6:30 PM | Thank You & Closing Remarks  (Indoors)

Gather in the Salinas Room with City of Salinas for partner recognitions, artist acknowledgments, and the live announcement of the Brush War winner!  

6:30 PM – 8:00 PM | Qiensave Band Performance (Outdoors)

Cap off the night outdoors with live music and a celebration featuring Qiensave.
