Employers and Job Seekers to connect at monthly virtual job fair, Premier Virtual platform proves useful

Job seekers and employers will have another opportunity to connect this month on April 28 from 10am to 1pm through a free virtual job fair. The Monterey County Workforce Development Board (MCWDB) is making virtual job fairs available on a monthly basis in an effort to connect employers and job seekers and ultimately boost employment countywide. Monterey County’s unemployment rate for February was 10.9% compared to 8.5% across the state.

The MCWDB is now using the Premier Virtual online hiring event platform. The platform is designed to bridge the gap between technology and the human experience and enables job seekers to chat with employers in real time, submit resumes, and apply for positions during the virtual event. Virtual job fairs have become extremely popular as recruiters are using new hiring tools to save both time and money. Virtual events keep everyone safe and are convenient for both job seekers and employers. Hiring can take place within the event itself or as a direct result of the event.

“COVID-19 has been a game changer for us here in the world of Workforce Development and across the country,” said MCWDB Executive Director, Christopher Donnelly. “We are pleased to be able to connect both employers and job seekers on a platform that meets the needs of both and provides a safe atmosphere for people to learn about opportunities to go back to work here in Monterey County.”

Multiple businesses are expected to attend the event and job seekers are asked to register here: https://qrs.ly/9wcibkp in order upload their resumes to the platform. Businesses who are interested in participating in the April 28 virtual job fair are asked to contact MCWDB Business Services Manager, Jerry Hernandez at hernandezj1@co.monterey.ca.us
