This seminar is designed for business owners, human resource professionals, payroll managers, and others responsible for personnel matters. Whether you are experienced or a novice, this presentation seeks to inform you about California employee leave fundamentals, including employee eligibility, documentation, timing, how leaves may interact, and managing employee leaves. Topics will include:
- An overview of employee leaves of absence applicable to California employers, including the California Family Rights Act (CFRA), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), California Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), pregnancy-related leaves (pregnancy disability leave, Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA), baby bonding), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), crime victims leave, paid sick leave, and more.
- Informing employees about leaves.
- Common compliance challenges and how to minimize them.
- Identifying and designating overlapping and consecutive leaves.
- Documenting requests, denials, and timing of leaves.
- Managing leaves, including the employee’s return-to-work, and addressing potential issues.
