The Western Stage's 2x4 BASH Presents "Hand to God"

Friday, July 26, 2019 8:00 AM - Saturday, August 17, 2019 5:00 PM (PDT)

Description

The Western Stage's 2x4 BASH Presents "Hand to God" by Robert Askins After the death of his father, meek Jason finds an outlet for his anxiety at the Christian Puppet Ministry, in the devoutly religious, relatively quiet small town of Cypress, Texas. Jason’s complicated relationships with the town pastor, the school bully, the girl next door, and—most especially—his mother are thrown into upheaval when Jason’s puppet, Tyrone, takes on a shocking and dangerously irreverent personality all its own. “Hand to God” explores the startlingly fragile nature of faith, morality, and the ties that bind us. Performances July 26th, 27th; August 2nd, 3rd, 16th, 17th at 7:30 p.m. in the Studio Theater, Hartnell College Performing Arts Center, Building K. $10 general admission. www.westernstage.com/tickets or call 831-755-6816 The 2x4 BASH is The Western Stage's darker, edgier, more provocative theatre program. The Bash provides opportunity for students between the ages of 19 – 29 (no old farts allowed) to produce their own repertory season of shows in the Black Box Studio Theatre, under the guidance and mentorship of Western Stage professionals along with access to professional quality facilities, equipment, and resources. This event is wheelchair accessible.
