SL Environmental Law Lunch & Learn
Tuesday, June 22, 2021 (12:00 PM - 1:00 PM) (PDT)
Description
Water suppliers across California – and in the Salinas Valley – face existential challenges as they struggle to meet state and federal drinking water standards while dealing with groundwater contamination from humanmade chemicals such as 1,2,3-trichloropropane (TCP) and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). Legal strategies using product defect law can help water providers hold polluters accountable for the costs of cleaning up the water.
Participants in this session will learn how other organizations have used product defect law to shift treatment costs back to polluters; how long lawsuits typically take and what kinds of costs can be recovered; and how they can leverage evidence from previous lawsuits and settlements to hold chemical companies responsible.
