Alliance on Aging Invites Community to Spread Love with Valentine's Cards for the Elderly
Salinas, CA – The Alliance on Aging is excited to announce a heartwarming initiative this Valentine’s Day – an invitation for the community to create and send Valentine’s cards to seniors living in care facilities, nursing homes, assisted living centers, and hospitals. This effort aims to bring a message of love and connection to those who might feel isolated during this season.
In these cold, short days of winter, the Alliance on Aging is calling on individuals of all ages to embrace the spirit of crafting and handwritten correspondence, to make a difference in the lives of our elderly community members. Whether it’s a simple note on stationery or a collage adorned with classic Valentine’s materials, your handmade card can bring a smile and a sense of belonging to someone in need.
Nicki Pasculli of the Alliance on Aging highlights the importance of this initiative: “We want to ensure that our seniors know they are thought of and loved, especially those without families. A simple gesture like a Valentine’s card can significantly brighten their day and provide a feeling of connection.”
This initiative is not just about celebrating romantic love but echoes the elementary school tradition of expressing appreciation and care for each other. We encourage cards to carry general messages of friendship and kindness, addressed as “Dear friend,” or with no specific greeting, to resonate with any recipient.
How to Participate:
- Create a Valentine’s card using any available crafting supplies.
- Mail or drop off your card(s) at Alliance on Aging, 247 Main St., Salinas, CA 93901.
- Submission deadline: February 9th.
- Envelopes are welcome but not necessary.
The Alliance’s team of ombudsmen and volunteers will distribute these cards to various care homes in time for Valentine’s Day on February 14th. We invite you to join us in this simple yet impactful gesture to spread love and kindness in our community.
