Alliance on Aging Invites Community to Spread Love with Valentine’s Cards for the Elderly

Press Releases

Salinas, CA – This Valentine’s Day, the Alliance on Aging invites the community to join a heartfelt initiative to create and send Valentine’s cards to seniors in care facilities, nursing homes, assisted living centers, and hospitals. This simple act of kindness aims to bring love, joy, and connection to elderly individuals who may feel isolated during this season.

In the short and chilly days of winter, the Alliance on Aging is encouraging people of all ages to tap into their creative sides and the charm of handwritten correspondence. Whether it’s a cheerful note on stationery or a colorful collage crafted with classic Valentine’s materials, your personalized card can brighten someone’s day and remind them they are loved and valued.

Nicki Pasculli, spokesperson for the Alliance on Aging, emphasizes the importance of this initiative: “We want our seniors to feel thought of and cherished, especially those who may not have families nearby. A small gesture, like a Valentine’s card, can go a long way in lifting their spirits and fostering a sense of connection.”

This effort isn’t just about romantic love. It’s a community-driven way to spread kindness and evoke the nostalgia of elementary school traditions, where Valentine’s Day was about friendship and appreciation. Cards can carry general messages of love and encouragement, addressed as “Dear Friend,” or left open for universal appeal.

How to Participate:

  • Get Creative: Design a Valentine’s card with any crafting supplies you have on hand.
  • Send Your Card(s): Mail or drop them off at Alliance on Aging, 247 Main St., Salinas, CA 93901.
  • Submission Deadline: Cards must be received by Friday, February 7th.
  • Optional Envelopes: Envelopes are welcome but not required.

The Alliance on Aging’s dedicated team of ombudsmen and volunteers will ensure the cards are delivered to seniors in care homes just in time for Valentine’s Day on February 14th. Your participation can create a ripple of love and kindness across our community.
