Monterey County, CA — Alvarado Street Brewery is proud to announce the release of Raft, a 5.2% West Coast Pilsner brewed in collaboration with the Monterey Bay Aquarium and inspired by one of the ocean’s most iconic and beloved animals: the sea otter.

Crisp, refreshing, and hop-forward, Raft reflects both the coastal character of California and the brewery’s commitment to thoughtful, small-batch brewing. The beer draws inspiration from the kelp forests of Monterey Bay, where sea otters gather in groups known as “rafts,” playing a vital role in maintaining the balance of this rich marine ecosystem.

This collaboration also highlights the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s leadership in sea otter research, rescue, and rehabilitation, as well as their broader efforts to protect and restore California’s coastal habitats. Through Raft, both partners aim to raise awareness of the critical role sea otters play in ocean health and the importance of preserving the environments they call home.

In line with that mission, Raft was packaged with sustainability in mind. Each 6-pack is hand-packed using compostable, biodegradable holders, offering an alternative to traditional plastic packaging and helping reduce the risk of ocean-bound waste.

Raft supports ongoing ocean conservation efforts, reinforcing the shared mission behind the collaboration.

Raft will be available on draft and in limited packaged formats at Alvarado Street Brewery locations, with direct shipping available throughout California via ASB.BEER, as well as select availability through retail and account partners across Monterey County and the Bay Area.
