MONTEREY, CA — April 2026 — Alvarado Street Brewery has earned a Gold Medal in the Fruited American-style Sour Ale category at the World Beer Cup for Howzit Punch, marking the second consecutive year the beer has taken top honors.

A passionfruit, orange, and guava (POG) sour ale, Howzit Punch has become a standout for its bright tropical character, clean acidity, and easy drinkability. The back-to-back win reinforces the brewery’s ability to deliver expressive, fruit-forward beers with consistency at the highest level.

Often referred to as the “Olympics of Beer,” the World Beer Cup is one of the most competitive international beer competitions, with thousands of entries from breweries around the globe.

The award comes as Alvarado Street Brewery continues to grow, including expansion efforts in Castroville, California, aimed at increasing production capacity and supporting future innovation.

Howzit Punch is available on draft and in limited packaged formats at Alvarado Street Brewery locations throughout Monterey County and the larger Bay Area, as well as for direct shipping within California via ASB.BEER.
