Bay Federal Credit Union Announces 2026 Education Scholarship Recipients

Capitola, CA – June 8, 2026 - Bay Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce the winners of its 2026 Education Scholarship and Mac McCormac Employee Scholarship.

 

Members Anahi Cortez Jacobo, Angela Cuevas, Lillian McGee, and Sarah Cobos were named Bay Federal’s Education Scholarship recipients. Employees Jocy Corona, Alex Valdez, and Aaliyah Villafuerte were awarded the Mac McCormac Employee Scholarship in honor of the Credit Union’s first employee. Each recipient will receive a $2,000 scholarship.

 

For many years, Bay Federal has invested in local students through its scholarship program. With this year’s awards, Bay Federal has now provided a total of $108,000 in scholarships to help local students pursue higher education and build strong futures.

 

“These students showed a thoughtful understanding of the real financial challenges young people face today, along with a strong desire to help others build healthy financial habits,” Carrie Birkhofer, Bay Federal’s President and CEO. “Their ideas, creativity, and commitment to financial wellness give us great confidence in the future, and we are proud to support them as they continue their educational journeys.”

• Anahi Cortez Jacobo, who will attend Santa Clara State University, majoring in mechanical engineering.

• Angela Cuevas, who will attend San Francisco State University, majoring in international business.

• Lillian McGee, who will attend the University of Missouri, Columbia, majoring in accounting and economics.

• Sarah Cobos, who will attend either Cal Poly or UC Santa Barbara, majoring in psychology.
