Salinas, Calif. – On September 4, 2026, the closing ceremony of Alebrijes & Nahuales Fantastic Animals from Mexico will be at One Main Street in Salinas at 6:00 p.m. as part of First Fridays in ‘a day of fun’ from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., which include the finals for Brush War. The evening will include various performances inside and outside of One Main Street.
For 5 weeks, Alebrijes & Nahuales has been a celebration of the arts in Salinas with the wonderful exhibition featuring eight (8) sculptures created by master artisans from Oaxaca, Mexico, curated by Carlo Magno Pedro. It has been a striking visual experience for the local community as well as a driver for visitors from the region, the state, and out-of-state. This is the last opportunity to enjoy the exhibit before it goes to its next destination.
“This exhibit has placed Salinas on the map,” said Salinas Valley Chamber CEO, Colleen Bailey. “This is a celebration of the arts as no other, generating well over a million impressions on social media.”
The eight sculptures were placed inside and outside Northridge Mall, the Soccer Complex, One Main Street, the Vineyard Church, Star Market, and Sherwood Hall. An exhibit curated by artist JC Gonzalez is still on display at One Main Street featuring over 40 miniature sculptures. The closing ceremony will be on:
