Each year, Interim serves holiday lunches in November and December at the OMNI Resource Center in Salinas. The lunches are attended by over 200 Interim clients and other community members.

This year, Friendsgiving (aka Thanksgiving), will be held Nov 17^th at 1:00PM at the OMNI Resource Center, 339 Pajaro Street, Salinas, CA.

Volunteers Needed: Interim will need 30 volunteers to help set up, serve food, clean up after the meal, and provide light musical entertainment. Volunteers will be needed in the morning before lunch is served as well as during the lunch.

Coastal Roots Hospitality is once again partnering with Interim to prepare the lunches! Thank you Coastal Roots! We can’t thank you enough!

For many years, Interim, Inc.’s OMNI Resource Center has hosted Thanksgiving and Winter Holiday meals more than 200 Interim clients, including those who are unsheltered, and other community members, most of whom have no income or are low-income.  Many of these community members have no family to visit or spend time with during the holidays. Interim is Monterey County’s largest non-profit mental health services, and provider serving individuals with serious mental illness.  This year OMNI returned to in-person holiday meals, where clients could enjoy a holiday meal with chosen family and friends and enjoy the holiday spirit.  Everyone was really excited to return to in-person holiday meals and feedback has been very positive.  Many of the people who attended the meals said that they thought the food tasted even better than before because they could eat in person with their friends. 

This meal would not be possible without the help of community donations and volunteers. Every year, OMNI needs approximately 40 staff and volunteers to pull off the meal successfully.  This year, over 280 meals were served. Coastal Roots prepared and supplied most of the food for the holiday meals for both the Thanksgiving and Winter Holiday meals, Granite Construction generously donated $2,000 to support expenses, and Main Street Bakery Salinas supplied homemade tamales.

The OMNI Resource Center is Monterey County’s only peer, and family member-run mental health wellness center, open to anyone with mental health challenges. OMNI offers peer-led programs promoting wellness and recovery, as well as recreational and social opportunities.  Wellness programs are free and open to anyone with mental health challenges.
