Interim Inc. to Hold Grand Opening for New 17 bed Apartment Complex to House Homeless with Mental Illness, Sun Rose Apartments October 26, 2023
SALINAS, CA. (October 3, 2023) —Interim recently completed construction on Sun Rose Apartments in Salinas, a 17-bed complex including 8 units of shared transitional housing and 9 permanent individual studio units. The complex also includes a unit for a resident manager and office space for on-site staff. The entire building will be handicapped accessible with an elevator to the upper floors, enabling us to better serve those struggling with physical disabilities. Interim, Inc. broke ground on this project in August 2021 and construction was completed in September 2023.
The event will be held on October 26, 11AM-1:00PM. A reception will be held from 11:00AM-11:30PM. Interim invites the press to attend the event. The complex will house adults 18+ with a serious mental illness, homeless or at-risk of homelessness and low-income (under 30% of AMI). There is a desperate need for affordable housing for this population. This is a vulnerable population that traditionally has difficulty acquiring and maintaining housing.
The total construction cost of Sun Rose Apartments was $6,867,031. An additional $3,079,510 was raised in mandatory reserve funds to cover a capitalized operating subsidy. This will keep tenant rents affordable for 20 years. Maintaining affordable rent is critical for the quality of life of residents.
The project was funded by a variety of public (Federal, State, County, City) and private grant sources, as well as community donations.
