[Salinas CA. August 27, 2023] The Arts Council for Monterey County (Arts4MC) is proud to announce the opening of a new ArtWorks location in Downtown Salinas on September 1st, located at 262 Main Street. We invite everyone to join us in celebrating this milestone by attending the Open House and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 5 PM, in partnership with the Salinas Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Arts4MC’s Artworks Studios & Galleries program aims to provide affordable and collaborative spaces for local artists to showcase and create their art. ArtWorks @Salinas will be the perfect place for the community to explore and discover homegrown talent, with seven artist studios and a rotating gallery of local artists and artisanal crafts available for purchase.

During the Open House, guests can explore the artist studios while enjoying light appetizers, wine, and music by the talented Franky Soto. This event coincides with Downtown Salinas' monthly First Friday Art Walk, so there will be plenty of live music and arts happenings to enjoy throughout the area.

José Ortiz of Hijos Del Sol Art will be the first artist on exhibit and the featured makers available for purchase at the Open House include Johnny Wicks Candle Co., Jovani Gonzalez of La Segunda, and Wild Soap Shop.

“There is a vibrant and ever-growing art culture in Salinas. When looking for the next ArtWorks location, it was a natural choice to be Downtown. Having a dedicated space like this can make a real difference in allowing artists to continue exploring and thriving with their craft”, shared Jacquie Atchison, Executive Director of Arts4MC, “it can be cost-prohibitive for many artists, we want to help eliminate that barrier.”
