SALINAS, CA, December 31, 2024 —The Relay For Life of the Salinas Valley proudly announces the extraordinary success of its September 2024 event, reflecting the incredible support of the Salinas community. This year, the Relay raised over $641,000, marking a significant milestone in our mission to conquer cancer.  

Held in the center of Salinas, the event united more than 2,500 community members, including over 300 cancer survivors and caregivers. Together, they honored those touched by cancer and rallied support for lifesaving research and services. Highlights from the event included:  

- Performances from local high school marching bands, vibrant dance groups, and the live band, Los Survivors. 

 - A heartfelt dove release and luminaria ceremony to pay tribute to loved ones.  

- Engaging activities in the Kids Zone and an exciting car raffle giveaway.  

Mark Kennedy, Relay Event Co-Chair expressed gratitude for the community's involvement. "This incredible achievement reflects the strength and generosity of our community. Becoming number two in the nation is an honor, but our real victory lies in the lives we touch and the hope we bring to those facing cancer."   

The funds raised underscore the community's compassion and determination, enabling the American Cancer Society to advance cancer research, provide essential patient support services, and advocate for vital policies. Every contribution is making a meaningful impact.
