CASTROVILLE, California — Viva la Castroville.
After more than a decade of brewing beer in Monterey County, Alvarado Street Brewery is opening the doors to its new home. On Saturday, November 7th, the brewery will welcome the public into its new Castroville production facility and tasting room, affectionately known as "The Plant."
Located at 11440 Commercial Parkway, the new facility represents one of the biggest steps forward in Alvarado Street Brewery's history, bringing its primary brewing production, packaging operations and a new public tasting room together under one roof. Doors open at 1 p.m., giving guests their first opportunity to experience the new space, drink beer steps from where it was brewed and see where the next chapter of Alvarado Street is taking shape.
The tasting room was designed to put the brewery itself front and center. The bar sits beneath Alvarado Street's new 50-barrel BrauKon brewhouse, a towering Bavarian-built system that serves as both the heart of production and one of the defining features of the space. Rather than separating the brewing operation from the guest experience, the design brings them together, offering visitors a front-row seat to the equipment and process behind the beer in their glass.
Guests will also be introduced to Sharp Pours, Alvarado Street's take on the Japanese sharp-pour tradition. Served exceptionally cold with a dense, creamy cap of foam, this distinctive pouring technique helps preserve carbonation in the beer beneath it, delivering a crisp, refreshing drinking experience.
Beyond the bar, the new location features an outdoor beer garden, rotating food trucks and a selection of packaged beer to take home, creating a space for locals and visitors alike to gather and enjoy Alvarado Street beer directly at its source.
Behind the scenes, the new brewhouse is joined by a state-of-the-art canning line and significant upgrades throughout production. Together, these investments provide greater control over the brewing and packaging process, improving quality, consistency and efficiency while giving Alvarado Street the capacity and flexibility to continue growing.
But Castroville represents more than a larger place to make beer. Since opening its original downtown Monterey brewpub in 2014, Alvarado Street has grown into a brewery with locations throughout Monterey County and a reputation extending well beyond the Central Coast. The new facility establishes a permanent production home for the company and marks the beginning of its next chapter.
Surrounded by agricultural fields in the Artichoke Capital of the World, the nickname "The Plant" feels right at home. It's a nod to the facility's role in producing beer, the agricultural landscape that surrounds it and the ingredients that make brewing possible. More importantly, it reflects Alvarado Street's excitement about becoming part of the Castroville community and establishing roots in a place that will help shape its future.
The grand opening celebration on Saturday, November 7th, will feature Sabor Latin Fusion serving food from 3-9pm, music from DJ TRAPS from 3–7 p.m., a full lineup of Alvarado Street beer and a special bottle release. Guests can also shop exclusive Castroville Plant merchandise printed by Chris Powers Print & Design Team, alongside a selection of new Alvarado Street merchandise making its debut for the occasion. The event is open to the public, with festivities beginning at 1 p.m.
Following the grand opening, the Castroville tasting room will be open five days a week, Wednesday through Sunday, welcoming guests to enjoy fresh beer, rotating food trucks and the new brewery experience.
